Quaker Boy

Hello all. This will be my first season turkey hunting, so as you can imagine, I am scrambling to get prepared. I just recently purchased a Quaker Boy Hurricane call. I was curious if anyone knew of anywhere I could go online to get actual audio of how the different calls are supposed to sound. All I have to go on right now are the directions on the back of the box, and to be honest, I really don't know if I am preforming the calls correctly. If anyone knows of anywhere I could go, I would appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

Scroll through and click on the sound files...for the most part a box call is good for yelps, purrs and clucks along with a series of yelps...good luck

Box Call 04-11-2005 07:45 PM

RE: Quaker Boy

I purchased the same call last year and really like the sound you can get with it. Mine has 2 holding points on the handle, one for a young hen and one for an old hen. For the yelp, if you slide the lid back and forth about an inch, the box will do the work for you and make a great sounding hen. Don't press down too hard, just let the handle lightly slide. The most important point to remember is to slide the handle with the correct rhythm of a real hen. While hunting in Pa. last year, my cousin and I were having a hard time getting an answer with his mouth calls. I took out the Hurricane call and on the first series of about 6 yelps we heard Gobble oobble obble! We ended up calling 2 in that morning that had answered the Hurricane box call. I scored on the first and my cousin scored on the 2nd about 2 hours later. Hope this helps, and a little practice each day will have you sounding great in no time.
