Turkeys eat corn?

Only my second year turkey hunting and my question is "Do turkeys eat corn?" I'm trying to pattern some birds and seem to think they head over to a cut cornfield in the late morning. Ever notice any around your deer feeders? Thanks in advance.

Yes, turkeys eat corn.

It's illegal to bait them here in Arkansas. If you're caught hunting over a turkey feeder, or deer feeder, or any source of un-natural corn, you can get fined bigtime or go to jail.

Check your regs to make sure.

But yes...they eat corn.

Yes they eat corn. Last year, hunting out of my groundblin i watched 3 hens jump in and out of a grain silo with corn in it to eat. Funny stuff to watch.

FroMan-g&f caught man next to our lease 3 years ago with corn out during season. stopped all hunting on 500 acres around the corn!! he was bringing in hunters from Little Rock and charging $500. with guaranteed kill. realy upset him, but stopped him from trying to have a little insurance. helped me out-i just set up on our lease (just past flagging put out by game warren to mark line of zone) and called the turkeys over onto our lease, without any interferance from him or his ?hunters?:D

I put out corn for the deer and turkeys in our front yard ,
and yes the turkeys do eat it . This assumes , of course , that they beat the bluejays and other birds to it . ;)

Baiting is illegal here , so I have to remove the feeder 10 days before the season starts , or at least not have a direct line of sight to it to avoid running afoul of the law . The feeder will be in a 15' deep sinkhole , and I'll be on the other end of the property with plenty of trees between me and it .
