yesterday my wife didn't feel like going hunting.(her arthrists had her leggs hurting real bad.)
so I went to what I call the "Island".a place no one likes,because you have to walk a little over a mile ,then cross a creek.it was knee deep yesterday.some times lower some times deeper.
at light I heard a gobble,couldn't tell from where,so I stood there for another.seemed like an hr. but only a min. or two he gobbled again.about the same place I left him on the last day last year. so I knew the lay of the land I took off for him. he gobbled about two or three times an min. till I got to where I wanted.
there were 3 or 4 hens all around me,I let them do the talking.I waited till he hit the dirt and called to him.he double gobbled and came my way. after about 15 min of gobbling and strumming he got to where I wanted him ,stuck his head up and excepted a load of Winchester 3" mag. copper plated #6 shot.

he was 17 1/2 lbs. 10 1/4" beard with 1 1/4" spurs.

then I had to carry him the mile back to the road. .
that sure was a "good" tired feeling
