I use them and thats all I use. I shoot a 870 express. I use the 3 inch number 5 shot. It patterns well out to 50 yrds with the remington super full turkey choke.

RIStrut,

I'm using a Star Dot choke, think its .668 constriction.

I just picked up a box of #5's at Dicks Sporting Goods. Haven't tried them yet.

ristrutstopper,i shoot a rem 870 super mag with a ventilator choke and nitro 4,5,7,s 3 1/2 inchers.all i can say is it works for me.i believe nitro loads are the best and most expensive as far as i know but worth it.we have a one bird limit in ill,and the last few years i have only used 3 shells.

I think they're as good as most other shells, but on a gun by gun basis. I tried the Rem Nitro #5 just this year, in the 2 ounce load, 3 1/2" shell rated at a blistering 1300 fps. Didn't make me want to sing and shout, well ok, I did say "owe" when I pulled the trigger, but that was about it. I may have found Nitro in a different load to work, but I chose to work with the Hevi-shot instead. I'd just keep tinkering around with what brand you prefer until you've found what works best out of your gun.
