Color of birds

Hang with me guys im still new to this. I was out feeding my cows today and took my box call to see if i could get a response[SEASON OPENS ON THE 2ND HERE IN TN} and I got a big resonse. I had 8 jakes and toms come thru a barb fence and down the hill - only thing was 1 of them stayed at the top of the hill and it was very light brown- whats up with that all the others were dark? Thanks for the help!!!!

RE: Color of birds

Brownish color usually indicates a hen....which might explain why she didn't come in to hen sounds (although they will). One word of caution....don't call too much prior to your season opener. It only tends to educate birds that respond and see nothing, or worse yet.....see that sexy sounding hen driving a john deere. :D

They came down hill and through a barbwire fence?

Wow, I wish I could get them to come down hill let alone through a fence during season.

Thanks for the response. I know about "Dont call prior to the hunt thing". I learned last year. Yep the came thru a 5 line fence. I couldnt get em thru a fence last year. Thanks for the reponse. Deer should learn from turkey- we would have more of them.
