i dont see why you couldnt use them. almost anything will kill a turkey as long as you get the bird in close enough. i think it would be fine to use them.

Are they 1 1/2 oz loads?

Nope, they bounce off turkeys.

Actually, I used 1 1/2 ounce #6 Remington hevi shot waterfowl loads last year, and they did a great job. They patterned better than anything I have tried in my 870. I try not to shoot long shots, but I horribly misjudged the range on a 21 pounder. Killed him stone dead at a ranged 47 yards. He didn't even flap. After all these years, it takes a lot, but I have to admit--I was impressed. And, of course, they were just as deadly on my normal (35 yards of less) shots.

The magnum turkey loads are 1 5/8 oz (1.625 Oz). I just reloaded HS 3" 1.70oz #5. If you want to save some money and have a little spare time, reload your own shells. The only station I use on my MEC reloader is for crimping. I hand weigh the powder and hevishot on a grain scale.
