RE: Choke tube question

Maytom, what distance was that pattern shot at?

Thats the kind of pattern Im looking for.

Can the nitro heavy be shot through a comp-n-choke .658 ok or is .660 the tightest constriction they reccommend?

RE: Choke tube question

Bubba, that was shot at 38 yards. Nitro Company specifically uses Rhino chokes for all their pattern testing. I did hear that they are now trying out other chokes. I'd contact Comp-n-Choke to verify if indeed you can use Hevishot through their choke tubes. Here's the link for Nitro Compnay.;)

Maytom, That is a great pattern. I was going to do the rhino/nitro combo but wasn't in the budget for the spring hunt, maybe by fall.........:D

Save your quarter... here's the link to Comp-n-Choke's page on why they do not suggest shooting Hevi-shot through their chokes tighter than modified...

Get the Tru-Glo Titanium and you can shoot any load.

RE: Choke tube question

Maytom, Nitro Ammo Co., recomends Rhino,Patternmaster,Carlsons,
Truglo and Trulock.....any Stainless Steel or Titanium choke.
I have the Truglo Adj. Titanium and don't have to change chokes
when I change ammo, just have to pattern the new stuff. I have
it installed on Moss "Fly way" 835--28".
Also can use the same choke for Turkey,Geese, Ducks,Doves,
Quail and Rabbits. It delivers good killing patterns on all listed
above.
I also think the UnderTaker Turkey chokes are excellent with
Nitro hevi-shot.
The reason I'm asking is because you keep mentioning Rhino.
I understand that Comp-N-Choke is not Recommened for
Nitro-Hevi-Shot, that's a given.
Give me a sales pitch on Rhino or tell me why you prefer Rhino?
I'm not questioing your abilities as a turkey hunter or think you
are a know it all.I read all your threads and think you "ARE" a
turkey hunter and give good advise.
Thanks....RH

This is what a Rhino choke tube sized .660 and 3" Nitro hevishot loads did out of my 1300. That's a 10" circle on that target, and I counted an honest 316 pellets inside!!!
That is what kind of pattern I was searching for all along. Glad I made the switch two seasons ago, because there is no more holes in my patterns at that distance, and hevishot hits like a sledgehammer compared to lead.
;)

MayTom, how long have you had this combination?
