i'm new to turkey hunting.. only hunted maybe a year. went out and did some scoutin

Number one looks like hen a hen feather because of the brown tips, Number 2 looks like a gobbler feather. I am asuuming you are hunting easterns the gobblers tips will tend to be more black giving the gobbler an over all black apperance.

I Dont Think You Can Tell With Them Ones...Ive Shot Toms With Thos Same Looking Ones...And Ive Seen Dead Hens With Em.

If the feathers came from the body/breast...Male turkeys will have a black edge, and females have brown/buff/lighter colored edges.

There is individual variation and perhaps some areas where a given population of tutkeys will not adhere to the "rule", but it is a standard technique used by wildlife biologists.

BUT...it kinda looks like those feathers mighta come off the back of a turkey. Hard to tell 'cause we can't see the whole shaft of the feather.
