In search of a decent slate or crystal call...any suggestions?

RE: In search of a decent slate or crystal call...any suggestions?
I have a MAD crystal that is advertised with a range of 15K HZ. It really worked wonders and when I purred on a reluctant tom it would bring them in almost every time. I used it for 3 years and always got my birds. Unfortunately it was in my vest side pocket last year and I sat on it and cracked the crystal. It doesn't work any more. It sounds the same to me but the birds just ignore me. I guess I will have to look for another and watch where I sit.

Hey hoss, the banquet is on the 9th of March if you haven't gotten your mailer.
Prairie calls had a couple lower end calls I might check out. But I am probablly going to go with the Primos Frictionite call for now.

Doug you prob would be better off with the production calls that you are looking at. You start looking at custom call and you can spend a lot of money. Turkey calls can get a little addictive!!!!!

Bow Man, one of the best buys on the market as far as I'm concerned for a quality sounding production scratch call is H.S's black magic!I've used this call over the last few years running an acrylic striker on this oxidized aluminum surface, with a lot of succesful results.....

As far as a custom call goes i dont leave home without my osage orange slate call made by Steve Harrison.....

A good commerically made call is the Primos Power Crystal....will really reach out there and get'em to gobble. I think it's standard issue and a must have. Just bought one myself and love it. I think it sounds fairly high-pitched and raspy. Priced right at $19.99 I do believe.

I'm pretty partial to the Quaker Boy GPS slate ,
it has great volume , you can adjust the surface with a dressing tool for all types of calls , and it's even directional . Combined with a chestnut or rosewood striker it really gets the gobblers going . I use HS Strut strikers , and a Primos Slik Stik to dress it .
