federal heavyweights

|
RE: federal heavyweights
Dont know about the heavyweights but shot the mag-shok lead # 5 with flitecontrol 40 yards put 91 in a 10in circle 30 at 50 yards and the wad was at the base of my target!

RE: federal heavyweights
thats sound great! what gun and choke do you use?
|
RE: federal heavyweights
I havent tried the heavyweights yet (Not available until March 1st), but I have tried the #5
with flite control wads. Great results. A word of advice though. Dont use a choke with more than a .665 constriction. It disrupts the pattern with chokes tighter than this. Federal recommends around a .670 as optimum. |
RE: federal heavyweights
I just picked up a box this past weekend at Cabelas. Once the snow lets up; i'll post my results.

RE: federal heavyweights
Anyone patterned these yet?
|
RE: federal heavyweights
Not yet but maybe this week end if the weather stays in the 50 to 60's:D
|
RE: federal heavyweights
I patterned them yesterday. I used 3 different chokes, A full , X full, and an XXfull .670.
Pattern sucked. The regular copperplated lead with flite control wads was far superior in pattern. Thats what i will be using this year. |
RE: federal heavyweights
Hey Benhunting, What kind of gun were you using. And how far were you?
|
RE: federal heavyweights
I was shooting a mossberg 500 at 40 yards. With the regular copper plated lead I averaged 125 pellets in a 10 inch square with 25 in the vitals. With the heavy shot I avg
about 10 in the vitals and 75 in a 10 inch square. |
