Best aim point on a turkey for an arrow.

I'm pretty new to turkey hunting, been doing it about 4 years now, but this will be my first attempt with a bow. What is the best aiming point for bowhunting? If anyone has a helpful link that shows different places to aim for different angles, that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The best spots are: At base of beard if he is facing you, butt of wing if he is broadside and the 10 ring if he is facing away from you with his fan out. Personally, my preference is the butt of the wing to keep him from flying off. Best visual reference I can think of for you to look at is the 3D archery targets by McKenzie. The vitals on the targets are pretty close to accurate.

Hope this helps.

Slicendice is on the money. If you have the wing butt shot, take it. Nothing wrong with the others, but as stated, recovery is often much easier driving the arrow in at the wing base.

Well, I'm going to attempt to gig one in the head. Check out the Gobbler Guillotine. It has (4) 2" fixed blades, like having a 4" pattern. You may miss alot, but a miss is better than wounding. I'll probably wing shoot one with an arrow in open country, but I'll shoot for the head in the woods. Most of the time there's someone with a gun hunting with me, so a miss for me is usually a kill for the gunman.

I'm sure it will be fun. Last year, I tried to tape my brother shooting one with a bow, it was tough. We have plenty of good shotgun kills, so we want to try with a bow. Thanks for all the advise.

Have you looked at the gobbler guillitine web site? It shows a video of what they do, they practically cut the turkeys head OFF!!! I can't remember the web site name but you can find on a search engine, you should check it out.
