Do I have a chance?
I have permission to hunt turkeys on a man's land, but I don't know if there are any on the land. The land is very thick with cedar trees and small red oaks. There are only a few open places on the land. There aren't really many trees good for roosting. There's a tank and a few natural drainage creeks that feed into the tank whenever it rains (not year round). However there is a large, flowing creek and tall trees a few hundred yards away on the neighbors property. What are the chances of there being turkey on or near the land? If the turkeys are a few hundred yards away on the neighbors property, will they respond to my call?

Sounds like turkey heaven to me.....should be somethere, just do some scouting and find out. Yes, if you get one with the right attitude, he should come running.

RE: Do I have a chance?
there is always a chance if i were you iwould scout the area 2 weeks before the opener mornings and evenings as many times that you can listen for gobbling at flyup and flydown try to locate roost sites im midday cruise the area on foot looking for tracks droppings feathers scratchings observe with binoculars DO NOT CALL WITH TURKEY SOUNDS you do not want educate the birds locater calls should be ok if there are on the neighbors maybe the guy that gave you permission can introduce you or tell you where he lives it may be hard to call them in if they are on the other side of the creek good luck

RE: Do I have a chance?
If I put some corn in the empty feeders on the property, will that get more turkey activity on the land if they are already nearby?
