Teach me to use calls

This will be my first season and I want to learn the different calls. I have a slate call, box, tube and diaphragm. tube call is self explainitory, But with the other calls how do I make each vocalization? I have no clue how to use the diaphram. I mostly wanna use the slate and box. Or do you know of any good online tutorials? TIA!

On the diaphragm call you just put it in your mouth and

Poke it in the roof of your mouth and whisper.

A yelp is cholk cholk cholk or yelp yelp yelp.

If you look on the back of the pack the call came out of it will
tell you how to do it.

Just don't go Putt Putt Putt LoL its the danger signal for turkeys.

You do it like that until you can make a sound and work from there.

Thats how I did.

Primos Diamond Yelper Model 106 is what I learned with.

The ones with the clear latex seems to work better than the white latex.

The clear is not as stiff.

After you learn on the clear you can work the white latex.

Thats how it went for me.

Last year was my first I made a lot of mistakes but I did get

Gobbles and yelps back at me.

Any ways good luck

OK,I'll try to help.To make it easier to explain we'll make the notes drawin the striker towards you.Rough up the surface of your call, with scotch bright or sandpaper. The rougher the better.Hold the striker like a pencil at about the same angle but with the big end of the striker pointin away from you.Now make little counter clockwise circles but don't lift the striker from the call(it won't make any sound on the back stroke)this should give you yelps. To cluck hold the striker the same way with a lil more downward pressure then flick your wrist just like strikin a match. To purr, with a lil less pressure just drag the striker across the call in a straight line. It's alot easier to show someone than to try to type it but this should get ya started makin the basic notes.Once you get this down ,let me know and we'll move on to the next step.Let's work with one call at a time.Good Luck

Probably the best advice I can give you is to learn the basic yelp. More turkeys have been killed with the yelp than any other call. Once you master the yelp, then go onto the cluck. Invest in a good video with lots of hunts and learn from the pros! Primos has a great series of DVDs and some of them have as many as 20 hunts on them. As far as personal preference, I like the Cuttin' Hen by Quaker Boy. One of their easiest calls and most popular calls. Boy does it sound good.
