As far as undicoverd i dont know. I don't know how the states are ranked.

But from what i am seeing now GA. is geting quite a few birds and some are realy big.

Fl may need a reclafation some where down the line as having another sub-spices.
There seams to be quite a few mix birds coming out in N Fl. a mix between the Ociola and the eastern.

The 2 i got last spring one was a eastern the other had a little differnt look to him.
so i went to the Agg. office they said they thought it was a mix.

and i know of at least 10 other "mixes" being taken around here.

I think Michigan has taken off a great deal in the past few years. For how many big toms I see a year compared to the people that I know hunt them, very big differnce in the ratio!

While I live in Washington State, I hear some good things about Northern California wine country and Oregon along the I-5 corridor around Roseburg.

i have two states for you, vermont( incredible birds), and conn. i have a friend that lives there, he keeps bugging me to come down. hunting is by permission only on private land. he took one with his bow one fall this thing would have made the record books from what he described. 29 lbs, 11" beard, 1.25( i think) spurs. do the numbers on that one. and, he said that there were three more with that one. access is such a problem, critters grow to a big size. he told me of a deer shot there this year, i believe it was 280lbs+, fielddressed.

I grew up in NY, and now live in CT.

I'll second the nod for CT...we have some outstanding birds :D !!

Also, on private lands we can harvest 3 bearded birds in the Spring, and in the Fall a hunter can legally harvest 6 birds...do the math on that equation...

My best bird was 24 pounds, 11 inch beard, and 1.375 inch spurs.

I agree with this guy tremendously........

Vermont has huge birds and so many of them that it is now a problem with the deer herds not having enough forage. I called in 6 legal birds in 3 days last season and 2 of them were big mature toms. Most of the state is like this from what I hear and have seen.
