According to the latest data (2003 estimates):

Texas -estmated population 200,000
-spring turkey licences $120
-annual harvest 30,000 birds
- 4 tags and you can shoot 'em all in one shot if you want!

SD -estmated pop. 51,000
-Spring turkey tag $85
-annual harvest 5,250 birds
- 1 bearded bird

Man, I think this is a no-brainer. If I'm going travelling I sure like the higher population, the higher success ratio of Texas. Never mind the fact you could come home with 4 birds. If you're going to spend the money go to Texas!

hunted both places. Both are great if you hit it right. Black hills are loaded with birds and tons of acres. If you can find a place to hunt SD is the place. very vocal and very receptive to aggressive calling.

Good luck
