If you get a 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge,, there isnt much difference between them, except that the 10 gauges are usually much heavier. Ive got a Browning BPS 10 and it weighs a ton, its unpleasant to carry, I also have a Remington 870 Super-Mag, and a Charles Daly 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge, and they both shoot just as well as the 10 gauge, and the recoil is about the same, but the 12s are much lighter and easier to carry.

i think the price difference does not justify the performance difference between a 10 and 12.
and if youre carrying a gun for any length of time, you'll soon hate the wieght of the big 10!
even witha sling mine was way heavy for hitting the hills..... the money you save buy buying a 3" 12 gauge will buy alot of calls, dekes, shells, camo , etc...

I agree with Moose as well. A 12 gauge gun in a 3" chamber does it all, even when shooting 2 3/4" shells. The 3 1/2" 12 gauge and the mighty 10 aren't really needed to hunt turkeys. Finding the right choke/load combo for your 12 gauge is the #1 thing to do.

Most turkey hunting in the Northeast requires lots of walking. The weight of a 10 ga is too much for me. I like a Benelli SBE due to its 6 pound weight. Shoots anything dead inside 40 yds and that is really where it is at. If you are looking for something that shoots out to 60 yds then you are missing the real fun part of turkey hunting. Getting them in close.

Mag 10 is for me!!A good recoil system a Butler creek sling and its no more more than a tool in my trade of getting the job done afield!Confidence overcomes my comfort afield and although most 10's are not particulary user friendly, knowing when I sqeeze the trigger on any gobbler inside 45 yards his neck and cranium are going to be broke is enough to carry my own 10 afield!Obviously for children, lighter framed men, and the opposite gender a 10 shouldn't even come into play but to say it has know place in the turkey woods for anyone is downright ridiculous I can assure you of that!!!!
