Barrel length

Does barrel length really mater? Is a 18 inch barrel better thana a 24 ich barrel? I am just curious.

Generally, barrel length does not predict how well a gun patterns. You will loose some velocity with a shorter barrel, but not much. However, unless you shoot with a scope or aimpoint, A longer barrel will give you a longer, more accurate sighting plane and it will put the muzzleblast a little farther from your ears.

Personally, I'd pick a 24" barrrel length, but anywhere between a 21" - 26" barrel would work great!! The shorter ones are easier to manuver around in the woods. Of these length's mentioned, Ballistic's wise, a 26" would give you the highest velocites. Go with what you feel works for you.;)

:D Paul,I thought sure you'd mention a certain Canadian we know ,who stands shorter than his gun barrel:D I use a 21" barrel.Like Wingbone said, the shorter the barrel the shorter the sight plain.Alot of guys have a tendency to shoot high with a short barrel.
