bowhuntin for turkeys

I'm goin to attempt to take a bird with my bow this year, and any suggestions would be greatly appretiated. I just purchased spitfires gobbler getters and I bought a blind, if you can think of anything else I need pass it on, thank you.

It is pretty tough to shoot a bird with the bow. Last year I was fortunate enough to get a shot but the turkey flew off with the arrow in him. He turned at the last minute and i hit him in the back

yeh last year I shot a 19and 1/2 pound tom with my shotgun (first turkey) but I wanted to try with my bow this year, I think it would be a great challenge, I'll try the first couple of days and if I miss, or worse and wound one, I'll go to my shotgun.

I attended a seminar at the Deer & Turkey Expo last weekend about taking turks with the bow. The guy giving the class said the biggest things to do is practice the shooting with the bow. He stressed that most people who hunt deer all have the 3d target with the great pie plate sized vitals on it. He said he thinks the 3d target of the turkey is a must (with the vitals the size of a baseball) if you plan to use the bow to aquire a true yardage which you can consistanly put the arrow in the vitals. The guy made me think pretty hard about it, and I agree, time to buy the 3d turkey. I owe it to the bird I hunt.
