I was reading all of your posts and trying to recall if I ever called before hearing gobbles. Often they're gobbling for 30-45 minutes while I'm setting up before I'm even getting my calls out of my vest. I have started calling in silence but was always concerned that hearing no gobbles wasn't a good sign. However the area I hunt has so many birds that silent mornings a few and far between.

It usually depends on the situation. If I think he is by himself, just a few soft calls to let him know I am there. If I here hens, I may call a little more to get them to come my way.

Like Maytom said, too much gobbling can attract the other hunters.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH POULT AND REM74. YOU HAVE TO LOCATE HIM THE NIGHT BEFORE. THAT MAKES THE NEXT MORNING SEEM LIKE IT WILL NEVER ARRIVE. TRY USING JUST "THE WING". IT REALLY GETS THE TOMS GOBBLING, WHEN THEY HERE IT RUBBING ON BRANCHES. THEY THINK A HEN IS JUMPING BRANCHES GETTING READY FOR FLYDOWN. IT WORKS GREAT. BY THE WAY, TREECLIMBER, GO TO A WHITETAIL MESSAGE BOARD.
