Fan Display Ideas
I have 3 Fans ready to put in/on a display...all done, just not in a "mount" yet...Id love to see pics of the various ways you all have done the display...the ones you buy look so cheesy!!

RE: Fan Display Ideas
I bought one from bass pro and i thought it lookes pretty darn good. Hard as hell to assemble though, never did it the way the instructions said too.

RE: Fan Display Ideas
This wouldn't be the cheapest route to go, but I'd look around the internet for some exotic rifle stock wood blanks, or even instrument woods, buy it, and then take it to a custom furniture maker, or a cabinet maker and see what you guys can work out.
IMHO you just can't go wrong with beautiful wood. |
RE: Fan Display Ideas
i like the tails mounted on cypress knees or old pieces of wood, cedar has beena favorite of mine too......

RE: Fan Display Ideas
I dont know if any of you guys have done this , but my sister is a florist, and she suggested to me as a house warming gift, that she would like to make a wreath out of turkey feathers that I got from the spring season this year... I've got to say this is one of the most unique items in my living room. Its just awsome, it is a little different than having all those fans around, and its another way to utilize more of the bird itself. You might want to consider that!??

RE: Fan Display Ideas
i like yours better MA!

RE: Fan Display Ideas
You hav'nt seen the wreath!!!
|
RE: Fan Display Ideas
The wreath idea is interesting....What i want to do is mount all 3 in a similar way...just dont quite have the idea yet. Ill be cutting up some downed cedars this weekend and may try to figure something out...like a slab off the butt end....sort of a panel if you will and a piece of the trunk to cover up the bondo area...
any other photos of tail mounts? |

Bless You!! Great photos and very workable Ideas.....I gotta get creative!
|
RE: Fan Display Ideas
I mounted mine using a piece of maple burl.
The call was made from this bird's wing which just happened that the Tom at one point had a broken wing and survuved. The beard was glued into the shell I used and the spurs mounted on the call. JW Note the mouth piece - ![]() JW |
RE: Fan Display Ideas
This was tail mount I did for a friend.
The feather tips didnt come out so great because he didnt keep it in the best condition before he brought it to me. ![]() This was done with deer leather, rabbit fur, whitetail antler buttons I make, Green stone arrowhead. |
RE: Fan Display Ideas
I also make Dream Catchers with the wing feathers and the Turkey Spurs with deer leather , fox fur and turquoise for friends.

RE: Fan Display Ideas
This is my spring 2003 bird that I shot. My plan was to but it on a plaque that i got from Cabelas. I wasn’t happy with the cheap wood also it seemed to be too small. One afternoon I found some scrap wood laying around and traced the old plaque on some fine oak and came up with this.
ok the picture wont come up |
