Tip on patterning for Vitals

Just thought I'd throw out an idea that I started using a couple of years ago.

Take a large sheet of paper and draw a 10 inch circle on it. Use a blank piece with no vitals drawn on it. Also take one of the turkey targets that show vitals and photcopy it onto a clear plastic sheet. You know, those that are used to make overhead projector presentations. So you have a "see through" vitals target. Then go out and shoot the gun at the center of the 10 inch target. DON'T put the vitals target up yet! Keep it at bench until after you have fired. Then, take the plastic vitals target and lay it over the 10 inch target. Keep it held straight up like a turkeys head would be, but move it around in the 10 inch circle. If you have a really good pattern, then it will be difficult to find even one area in that 10 inch area that won't at least put one pellet into the spine or brain. By using this method you will take out the "nervous" factor of both man and beast. You won't have to worry about pulling a shot or him moving his head a couple of inches just as you pull that trigger. Hope this helps someone!

Man, that's a slick piece of advice! Would easily tell you if you had "holes" in your pattern. Thanks for the tip.

I like the concept 10bore!Good advice I'll have to try that with the pattern I'm shooting now and see how it holds up!<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Go ahead and post it whereever you want. The part about using a 10 inch circle to compare patterns came from Nitrocompany. The part about the &quot;see through&quot; target just came to me one day while I was making standard copies of turkey &quot;vitals&quot; targets. If you have any holes, they will show up when you move that plastic sheet around on your pattern.
