Need a laugh Adrian?

I was out turkey hunting 2 week's ago with my bow ,I had been sitting in my blind for about 3 hrs and never heard a gobble ,so I decided to go for a walk and see if i could find these bird's that i knew had to be around somewhere in the area .I walked up to rthe corn field in which I had seen these bird's almost every morning on my way to work,They weren't there so I went on a bit further and there they were with 4 hen's leading the way.I tried sneeking up to the edge of the field and watched the bird's peel off into the bush. The direction they were heading was toward's my blind ,so I rheaded back to my blind and half way there I stopped and gave them a couple "yelp's" I got no response so I continued on to my blind and stopped again and repeated the "yelp's" still nothing ,so anyway's I get back to my blind and settle in and get my bow ready to go .I gave a couple more "yelp's" and then I started "putting" instant response right behind my blind ,These bird's followed me directly back to my blind and i got there none too soon ,I dropped my window half way on the side and all the way on the front ,I could hear these bird's spitting as they started to walk into my set-up .Then there they were 10yrds right beside my blind ,but there was something wrong and they hung up and didn't seem to want to move in on my hen decoy .I raised my bow and drew my 20yrd pinwas pointed directly behind the Tom's wing ,this bird was a dead bird nobody could screw this shot up.the bird was perfect quartered away and my pin right on him so I released my arrow and all I heard was a big THWACK what the heck was that? The 2 Tom's stood looking around wondering the same question ,as I knocked another arrow the bird's walked into the thick cover so I never got another shot . I couldn't believe this what just happened ? I was relaxed and calm there's no excuse for missing this shot. 15 minutes later when the bird's crossed the trail 30yrds from me but again I couldn't get a clear shot .I got out of my blind and looked to see what my arrow had hit but found nothing .I sat in my blind as puzzled as any hunter would be in this situation ,10yrds and missed how could this be I said to myself ,I consistantly shoot at 50yrds and I know that I've been shooting great ,so how did this happen .My little guy had baseball so at 10:30am I decided to pack up and head her for home ,as I started to fold up my blind ,what do I see? 2 great big holes on the edge of my window of my blind . I cursed and swore all the way home .I never had the window down far enough I could of set a match to that blind . All I could remember at that point was my buddy saying to me ,I can't wait for you to tell me about the first arrow you put through your blind ,I think he jinxed me ! I called him and told him that he jinxed me and he never stopped laughing all the time we were on the phone. The next day I went to his house and he was still laughing .I can laugh now but it sure did hurt at the time hahaha. This bird has to be the luckiest bird I ever seen he's got to be like a cat with nine live's .Sun I'll get out for the last kick at the can and hopefully these bird's come back in ,this time there will be no mistakes.

RE: Need a laugh Adrian?

My friend came down from school to hunt with me and his girlfriend. He is a big bow hunter and on the second day was setup in the perfect position. He was along a travel corridor and had his decoy setup behind his blind. There were three toms that appeared in the field and started to make their way directly to him. The one tom crossed the fencerow and came into his hen decoy. He got the back window opened and came to draw as the bird was only 15 yards away. I was setup with his g/f down about 100 yrds and all I could hear was a loud thwack.
I sat for another 5-10 minuted and snuck my way to where his blind was. He was cursing and swearing. He had done the same thing that you did nubo. He hit the blind window sending the arrow into a nearby tree. All I could do was laugh about it. At this point I still had not gotten my first gobbler and in the past two years, 5 days of hunting he had got drawn and shooting at two great toms. Next year I will have a tent blind. I also think I will be practicing from it so I clear the window.
Great story nubo.

John , I've spent some hours this year for the first time in one of these contraptions. As I've spent time I look over a lot of things and more ideas pop into my mined.

The windows are one, and have noticed that with a breeze , the flap flips back and forth , so wieght in the window would be a good idea.

A few pockets would be nice as well , as I can never find the calls or binocular's when I set them down.

Well , you did ok anyways, you always learn my friend.
I had a nightmare today my self in my blind , when a truck pulled up on a gobbler crossing the road to my setup and then the guys starts calling [:@] and holds it up...BT

Adrian! yes I agree these blind's should have pocket's built into them ,it would be an easy thing for them to do as well as putting some wieght on the window's .I am going out today to give it one more chance ,hopefully I'll have some good new's for you tonight .Today at about 4:00pm I was washing my truck in the laneway and I couldn't believe it but I heard a Tom on the hill across the road from me gobbling .Maybe I should just go up there in the morning .

You said you were a great shot out to 50 yards;) so I'm sure you spend a lot of time practicing with your bow. Did you bother to practice out of your blind[:o]

I can tell you what ! I sat in Nubo's blind the other day for a breif hour and seen the hole that the arrow entered and exited the window flap. All I have to say is I can see this happening to anyone, compinsating for the difference in the Arrow and the sights height, over the moment of excitement can be easly done. Nubo's arrow just caught the flap by a 1/2 inch at the very most, but he sure left a nice hole for one to see out , in that dirction with out putting the window down :D ...BT
