RE: turkey calls
What push button clall would you recommend.....which one sounds the most realistic. I got the Lonesome Hen by HK? and I didn't think it sounded good, but I'm not a turkey hunter so I don't know

RE: turkey calls
I agree with b-gobbler here.Friction calls are a good place to start and a plunger-push-button type box call is easy to learn on.Quakerboys Easy Yelper is a good one and so is H.S's push-button box!H.S has a series of videos out from their university series called "So you want to be a Turkey Hunter"that I would recommend. It helps in alot of other areas besides calling! Check out "www.wingsupply.com"Good luck!!!:)

RE: turkey calls
Bobgobble2 has some good advise. Start out with the instructinal videos. H S Strut has some good ones. The first calling video i learned from was from them. They also make a pretty good call too..

RE: turkey calls
Quaker boy easy yelper and the primos power slot would both be a good choice

I am new to turkey hunting and today I purchased a new crystal slate call from primos. After I figured out that I had to rough up the surface, it wasn't really hard to learn at all. I also purchased the Truth 13 by Primos and try to mimic their calling. I think it sounds similiar to their calling. |
RE: turkey calls
lahunter, once you get that call down it sounds real nice in the woods! trust me on that!

RE: turkey calls
Well I have only hunted turks 1 time. But what I do is go to a state park and sit and listen to turkeys, and when I get home I pull out all my calls and fittle (play) with them
untill I get the sounds right.I thought I would never get used to mouth calls because I choked on them so much until I started to make weird sounds with it,and all of a sudden I started to make yelps, purrs, cackles, putts and so on. Chris Johnson |
