Hastings Chokes & Hevi-Shot

I contacted Hastings to find out if it was safe to shoot hevi-shot out of my hastings turkey tube. they advised me not too & they said they are looking into making a choke for hevi-shot but it won't be this year. I just wanted to pass this along to everyone who has a hastings choke.

RE: Hastings Chokes & Hevi-Shot

Hevi-shot does not require as tight a choke as we're used to using in our turkey guns. I patterned it last year in my Remington full choke and got better results than Federal Premiums and Winchesters with a Hastings turkey choke. At 30 yards, I had about the same count in the kill zone with 2-3/4" Hevi-Shot as I did with 3-1/2" Feds & Winchesters.

Thanks for the info. I've also read that heany shot may be hard on your barrel.
