Do the moon phases effect gobblers?

i was wondering this entire weekend, do the moon phases affect gobblers and their rut? bc i didnt hear any gobbles this weekend and it was pretty close to a new moon. could this have something to do with the lack of gobbles?

I'm not sure why, but I seem to have better luck on a waxing moon about half full.

does anybody else have this problem or are we just hunting the wrong part of 20 acres?

Everything I've ever read, researched or even heard anyone speculate is that no one knows what effects gobblers...and the best article I read on it said that if someone thinks they know what effects gobblers, just nod in agreement knowing that they don't know what they're talking about..LOL

When someone actually finds out, sell it, your a millionaire....;)

Almost all of the actual scientific behavioral and physiological studies/evidence say...no, the moon phase and light have no effects.

However...the barometric pressure, relative humidity, temperature, amount of light, wind, and even ambient noise (such as squirrel chatter and songbirds) have been recorded as having an "effect" on gobbling activity...

BUT...the moon does affect the tides, which can affect precipitation and winds...so...

I'll just shut up and go to bed, tomorrow is finally my opening day, and I could care less about tonight's moon phase...:D

Exactly S&R!!Moon phase wouldn't keep me awake at night either!:D93 I've hunted gobblers for along time and looking over notes and recollecting past hunts as far as I can remember I can honestly say moon phase has had little to do with my success or unsuccess afield.I do remember a few occasions where it was so light and crystal clear outside that I used a little extra precaution in setting up on a roosted bird, and I have seen a few gobblers sound-off earlier than normal too.I recollect one hunt in setting up on one gobbler that gobbled his head off for some 2 1/2 hours before fly-down.I was actually opening a gate headed into the piece of property we were going to hunt when I heard the bird first gobble! For all I know he gobbled all night!!!But he didn't gobble much after fly-down!!!!!!!:D:D:D;)
