ground gobblin

This has been driving me nuts. Seems like a good many of the birds in my part of GA are gobblin their damn heads off while on the limb. They'll gobble at anything, owls, crows, cows, burps, farts, truck doors shutting, you name it. As soon as they fly down, thats it. I don't hear a peep out of them. I guess they could be henned up when they fly down, but I've seen several birds without hens that just won't gobble on the ground. Opinions and pointers welcome.

RE: ground gobblin

I have been having the same freakin problem. I hunt all over Georgia and its the same everywhere I go. The only thing I can think is that he gobbles so hard early that he has all the hens he wants waiting for him on the ground. I have also started figuring out that the mornings that he gobbles only 2 or 3 times, he will respond to calls better. Lately, we have been hearing them and literally sprinting to try to get to him in time. I think the hunting is about to get a lot better soon. It always seems to happen that way.
