Nova or rem 870

Which one of these guns would be better for turkey in the 3and a half inch?

They're both good. As to which is better, you'll get many arguments for each as both have merits. I prefer the 870 as it is a proven design, reliable and offers good value.

I have to agree with NJ. The reliability of the 870 is unmatched in any shotgun in my opinion. I've been shooting one for so long that it is second nature for me. However the nova does have it's following and is proving to be a shotgun that will last a long time. The 870 just "fits" me better and so I've stayed with it for many years. At present I have 3- 12 gauges and 1- 20 gauge.

It is all in what you like, it wont be anybody else's shooting killing your game with it. I personally sold my 870 and bought a nova, I love it and would never go back to the 870. I am not saying the 870 isn't a good gun. The Nova works better for me and what I do.

I would go with the 870, although I recommend a Wingmaster over an Express. Both varieties are great guns, but the WM beats the EX as far as quality is concerned. Reliability is one of their strong points, as well as fit and handling (often a personal preference).

I'm using a old Wingmaster myself, but chambered for 2¾" shells. I've got it patterned out to 35 yards and I'm just counting the days until April 10.

I just bought a nova, and it fits me the best. I like the look of both guns, but the 870 just didnt feel right.

I dislike the rattle in the forearm of every Nova I have ever held or fired. Other than that they are alright. But I like the 870. Its all I have ever seriously shot.

The Nova is 20 times more durable and weather resistant. Any 870 will rust if you do not clean it immediately following exposure to moisture. The 870 is the one of the only steel receiver guns on the market. Durability ! The Nova has a steel insert surrounded by polymolded plastic. The nova can be field stripped with the magazine cap and given a quick wipe down. The Nova weighs less and has the magazine cut off feature allowing quick exchange of shotshells. Some people like this feature when hunting ducks and need to shoot at geese. Some turkey hunters want to throw in a buck shot round for coyotes. (check local laws) You can not go wrong with the Nova.
