Palmer's Hoot Tube Help, please

Hey guys, great site you've got set up here; I'm going to try my hand at turkey hunting this weekend and picked up a Palmer's Hoot Tube by HS Strut. Thing is, I sound like a duck. I've tried talking, humming, blowing, putting my mouth entirely on the call, blowing into the call from an inch or so, blowing softly, blowing so hard my eyeballs felt like they were going to pop out, and I still sound like a quacker.

I'm blowing in from the big opening, not the smaller one; I thing that's the right way, there weren't any instructions with it so I'm kinda lost.

Can't get any noise out of those mouth diaphrams either, even after reading the post on the first page here that cover it in detail. At least I can get the box call to work so I'm not completely call-less.

To get an owl sound out of the Hoot tube you have to cup your hand over the end (the small hole ) to make a sound chamber the blow the WHO COOKS FOR YOU cadence. I hope this help.

RE: Palmer's Hoot Tube Help, please

I have the Palmer's hoot tube in wood and love the call, most accurate owl call I've heard. It is a little more raspy than other calls( maybe making it sound like a duck). The hoot tube has the barrell built in to the call so cupping your hands isnt necessary, but I still do it to add more charachter. Here are some sites on the desired sound you want:

These are sounds made from other production owl calls.
