Turkeys on TV
 

Turkey season here in Kansas doesn't open for another month and I can hardly stand the wait. To add to my frustration, there don't seem to be any turkey hunting shows on TV. I'm on cable, so maybe this should be a reason to switch to a satellite? Any ideas?

I switched to satellite this winter and have the Outdoor channel. Too bad I couldn't just get that one as a solo channel as I don't seem to watch anything else now!! Quite a bit of turkey hunting lately on there...:D

I watch videotapes. You can sometimes rent them, if you're in a big city and have access to a big name video rental club. You can sometimes get them from the local library. You can buy a couple hour's worth for pretty cheap at a sporting goods store like Fleet Farm or Cabela's or Sportsman's Warehouse, and I'll sell you all or any of the 13 (used) turkey hunting videos I have that I don't want to keep any more (I'm keeping my full collection [#1-13] of Primos' "The Truth" turkey hunting video series, though) for $5.00 each, plus shipping. PM me if you want a list/are interested. A friend tells me that the Outdoor Channel runs a lot of turkey hunting shows this time of the year, but I don't get the Outdoor Channel on my cable tv. Where do you hunt in Kansas? I'll be in the East-central part for the opener, near (6 miles from) the Missouri border. A friend tells me we'll be in a place with lots of turkeys. I hope one of them comes within gun range of my calling!!:D

I have cable and have the Outdoor Channel and the Outdoor Life Network. I like TOC better but both are good.

Great idea. I hadn't considered the video store or library options. I'll check in to both. I am new to turkey hunting (started last year in Missouri) but I am hooked. Turkeys are abundant in Eastern Kansas and I can't wait for the opener on April 14. Good luck on the border. I'll be South of Topeka hoping for the same results. Thanks for the idea.

I found a new cable channel that is aired in 4 hr blocks by the local cable company. They are just starting out by the looks of it. but they air hunting and fishing 24-7. and they also steam there channel on the internet. it called thesportsmanchannel. do a search for it or add the www and com to the end to check it out.

I went to their website and it looks like it is right up my alley. I'm calling my cable provider today to see if they can carry it. According to the website, it's free for cable providers so I don't see why not. Thanks!

I called and it's all based on how many requests they get for this channel. If they get alot (who knows how many that is) they will check into getting it. I guess if you want more hunting and fishing on cable, spread the word to call your provider and ask them to put this channel on.

Glad you like that channel, I found it back in november. and has become my favorite. but only get it 4pm-8pm and 10pm-midnight. But when I feel the etch and it is not on I watch it accross the net.

season opens here saturday can't wait
