this will be my first time out turkey hunting this season . i was wondering what would be a good combonation with what i have to hunt with. i dont really have anywhere to pattern my gun so this will be a guessing game . i have a 12 ga. bps 28" barrel with a browning xfull turkey tube. a friend told me with that tube i should go with #5 shot. any suggestions on shot size, hevi shot or lead or brand shell would be appreciated . thanks!

Welcome to the sport or should I say obsession of turkey hunting.Every gun is going to preform differently,so I suggest trying various sizes(4,5,and 6) and also a couple different manufacturers(Winchester,Federal, and Remington) Try these before the hevi shot,it's costly and you can probably find something your gun likes in the other offerings for cheaper. If you have a couple buddies that hunt may bee they can let you try a couple of their shells to save a bit of expense.Good luck

My BPS with the factory turkey tube liked any Winchester (HV or regular 3" turkey load). #4 or #6. It would shoot them both about the same. I couldn't get mine to pattern #5's reliably. One pattern would be outstanding, the next would have great holes in it.

I shot Federal Premium #4's and 6's for years with great success before I started to reload my own stuff!!!The key is no your range..to far even with a known good pattern spells a wounded bird![:'(]
