Let's see, it's been longer than I care to remember but it's been 20 some odd years now:eek: Totoe is right, a wise old gobbler can and will humble you every now and then, just when you think ya have them figured out.
Not quite a rookie but never to old to learn something either. If it was easy, I would have gave up years ago:D

This will be spring #12 for me. I got a late start at turkey hunting. Wish I had taken up this great sport a lot sooner.

I harvested my first tom some 20 something years ago and still remember it like it had taken place this morning!The expereience never gets old to me,and the anticipation of each new spring with gobbles filling the air makes bad days not so difficult!!!:)

As I begin preparation for my 6 th year I realize how much this
sport means to me . I look foward to the spring hunt with friends and

Well lets see! When I started there was no such thing as a TURKEY GUN,The only camo you could buy was old army surplus.There was no such thing as the NWTF. and we had a big choice of calls,box call,scratch box,or about 2 companies that made mouth calls.As you can see it's been awhile :)

Well last year was the 1st year I went and called seriously by myself. The year before that I went once with a buddy, and he did all the calling, and a couple times I setup behind the house before work. About 8 or so years ago I had went out a few times with another buddy who was doing the calling, we called in 4 gobblers in one morning, with one miss.(not me)

first time i got to carry a gun was in 1985, when i was 10 years old. was first allowed out on my own when i was 13, 1988. finally scored on a bird i had called in myself 2 seasons later. over 30 turkeys and several years later i've come to the conclusion that i don't know squat about turkey hunting.these birds never cease to amaze me.

Been chasing Mr. Waddles since I was knee high to a grass hopper, close to twenty years I guess. This will be my first season not being able to hunt with my grandfather (he passed away last month), so it will be different. The great thing is that he had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ so I'll get to see him again one day!:D

this will be number....hmmm lets count....my..6th season i guess....killed 2 so far....one last spring and one in the fall......i dont sound all that successful but i cant count how many i let go thinking i had no shot when i really did and now i know better....young and dumb...but i was trying to be safe and do the right thing........and dont regret it.....killing them isnt the fun part....its calling them in listening to them and watching them......

I'm not quite sure when I started packing a shotgun, first couple of years were spent just "lookin".:D
My guess is this will be 14-15 years.

Geez.. I hope some day to know crap about Turkey huntin' especially if thats what it is;)

This will be #6 or #7 can't quite remember already. Lot's of us Western boys got kind of a late start, due to NO turk's til recent years. I use to think it was a sport for you Southern boys, boy was I wrong it's for ME!!!!
