I found this site today. Looking forward to reading what others have learned about turkey hunting.I have hunted turkeys off and on since the mid 70's. I recently bought small acreage which is covered with turkeys.Looking forward to the spring season.

I harvested my first turkey in 1968 and hunted them ever since. The late Dick Kirby was instrumental in getting me started.

Gman, how has the turkey hunting changed over the years for you? Have you seen big fluctuations in population and such?

Been in the turkey woods since I was a kid and watched my dad shoot a many.... but took my first one 24 years ago this season, and still remember it vividly

This will be my 27th year chasing turkeys. I've been blessed to hunt turkeys in MO, TX, NE, and FL. I completed my grand slam back in 2008 and I am currently trying to draw an AZ goulds turkey tag. I've struck out several times. I will have 8 bonus points going into next years draw.

I have been hunting them up here in Me. for the past 9 years.. Struck out the first 3 years and got my first turkey ever in the fall of my 4th year with a bow.. It was a hen but, I was some proud of it. After that I have been quite successful with my spring birds.

Started hunting Turkeys 15 years ago after not being able to
draw a tag in Maine for a couple years. Things have changed a lot in Maine since then from needing to draw a tag, to currently over
the counter tags with a two tom limit in the spring and two of
either sex in the fall. Got my first Tom in NY when I didn't have
a clue what I was doing he had 1 3/4 inch spurs weighed 21
pounds with a 10 1/2 inch beard. Extremely windy morning, I was making some very quiet hen sounds and occasionally scratching in the leaves, Three hens came in followed by the Tom. I shot him at about 12 yards after he walked past me at 5 yards. After the shot, the
three hens came back and started pecking my decoy and I was hooked. Since then I took my Rio in California, a Merriams in
New Mexico, Osceola in Florida and I leave in a little over a month
to try for my Gould's in Old Mexico.
