what gun you shoot?

RE: what gun you shoot?
Remington 870! I have an old express. Its over 20 years old, and I still love it. If I were to buy new, just for turkey hunting, I'd get an 870 turkey gun. I wouldn't care if it shot 3.5" or just 3" shells, as 12 gauge 3" magnums pack enough punishment for my shoulder. If you want it for deer and turkey, I'd consider an express combo. It would come with a 20" smoothbore slug barrel or a rifled slug barrel and a 28" vented rib barrel. 28" is a bit long for turkeys, but it does the job. Just add choke tubes and its good for anything you want to hunt with a shotgun.

FOr turkeys I recommend a pump gun because they are lighter, so you don't have to tote that extra weight around all morning. They do kick a little more, but in a good year you will only fire your gun 3-4 times in the field.
That said the best gun IMHO on the market for turkeys right now is the mossberg 835. It is a great low price, and shoots tighter than any gun I have ever seen. My best friend bought one last spring new for $210 and just had a custom choke tube made for it. That bad boy will put 97% of its pattern in a 3 foot circle at 45 steps. Perfect uniformity. Only downside is that his pattern at 15-20 steps is about the size of a baseball, so he has little or no margin for error.
The 835 kicks like a mule too, but for turkeys, your adrenaline is running so high you don't notice. I love my 870 personally and I use it for ducks and turkeys. I would stay away from the 11-87 as all of the ones I have come in contact with are very high-maintainance. You have to clean them rigorously after every shooting to keep them from jamming. When I say rigorously, I mean down to the screw and taking out all the springs and everything. They are also a little heavy for my liking for turkey hunting.
The Browning BPS is another fine choice.
Make sure the gun fits you right!! Thats the most important thing.
