topo map help

i am going to be getting a map or two from mytopo.com and was wondering if there are any reasons to go with the 1:24,000 scale over the 1:15,000? i can get the whole area i want on the 1:15,000, but i heard that the 1:24,000 is more gps friendly. is this true and if so how? also is there any other tips you can give me about topo maps? oh yea this is for the black hills in wyoming if that helps. thanks a lot

RE: topo map help

thanks for the reply. i sent you a pm, but in case you didnt get it i cut and pasted it here.

i think that maybe i talked to you on here last year about hunting out there. we go to cook lake campground in the hills on the north side of 94. this will be our 3rd trip out there. we used to hunt south dakota but found wyoming to be cheaper and less crowded. not nearly as many birds though.....at least not in the national forest. we havent used any wheelers out there. just walk. got into some private land our first year and hunted it again last year with success both years on it. only have gotten one bird out of the nat. forest. our group has gotten 9 birds in 2 years so im thinking that private land might be the key. we will be out 28 for 5 days. we should meet up. how has your success been? where do you hunt out there? any advice? thanks
-kyle
