you make the call(part two)

you have the gobbler answering your calls and after he flys down, he rendezvous with the hens.the hens takes him away. what would you do?.

I'd leave him til around 10ish or so, depends on the time of year, then come back and maybe sit awhile where I called in the morning, alot of times they'll come back to where they heard another hen once his morning hens have went to nest. I had it worke to perfection last year, the Tom came back gobbling without me making a call.

If the terrain will allow, then circling around the flock unnoticed and setting up where they are headed will also work. Call to the hens and they will come sometimes, bringing the gobbler in tow! Have had this situation work for me in the past.

One could do several things.

If Tom is going away with his hens - cahnge tactics and see if you can get a hen to answer you! How to piss a hen off? If she answers you call back note for note and cadence to candence but do it slightly louder. When she stops you stop - she starts cut her off in mid-sentnece! Has worked for me.

Or if the hen doesn't asnwer and the Tom did know where this hen was. I would wait him out. - stay put.

Or if you have him patterned as others have send - do an end around run.

Those are your options. Each Tom is different....So you would need to amke the call!
