Need some help please.
I have a Mossberg 835 with a full choke. Is a full choke sutible for turkeys? Thanks

RE: Need some help please.
Yeah a full choke can work fine. What you need to do is get some turkey targets and go and shoot your gun and figure out how many pellets are going in the head at what ranges. Then you can determine your max range. I have hunted turkeys with a full choke every year up till this coming spring. The biggest advantage of a turkey choke is you can get out a little farther.

A full choke is a good selection for turkeys, but you need to take it to the range first to check your patterns. Get a few turkey silhouette targets and test a few of your favorite loads at various distances out to about 50 yards. Whichever patterns the best and consistently places shot in the vital area is the one for you.
If you're not getting good enough patterns out around 40-50 yards, you might want to consider an extra-full choke. The 835 is a decent turkey gun, so with the right load you'll probably be able to use your current setup. |

I will only be shooting at 20-30 yards. What are some good loads?

If you stay in your 20-30 yard range,6 shot with 2 oz. of shot. That should fill your pattern nicely. Get some turkey targets and experiment. Love to hear that range for a shot from ya'. Close encounters are awesome, long shots never impressed me, and they always got longer as time wore on.
