Which is Better?

I hunt on private property in central Illinois. I have been turkey hunting in the same place for the last three years without shooting a bird. Last year i had three hens come in on me but no jakes or toms. I know there are more birds here because we see them when we deer hunt. My dad has a blind that overlooks a part of a field and he has only had 1 bird come in on him. I normally move around. Last year the people who own the land next to ours had a lumber company come in and take down a large portion of the trees. The lumber company left all the tops of the trees on the ground and when I was walking through there in deer season a lot of the turkeys were in the downed tree tops. They seem to like it a lot though. Would the turkeys roost in the downed tree tops? And if I could get close enough to it, would it be better than hunting my half of the field?

RE: Which is Better?

turkeys always want to roost higher than prolly 5 or 6 foot about 12+ feet get in there and locate em and one other thing them turkeys may be eating the insect off of the trees what kind of tree tops (pine?) i know bugs like to eat pines and stuff like that and turkeys love insects so thats prolly one reason or they could be eating berrys;) hope i was some help to ya
