Started scouting yet?

I was out scouting today. Anybody else been out?

The turkeys have been all over my Strut & Rut food plot. I hope they don't eat it up before the season.

Too early yet to scout here in Ohio. Temps still in the low 20's. It's a good time now to walk over new land. Do that now and keep out of the woods later.

If it will ever stop Raining cats and dogs here I might go myself,

We've had about 10" of rain in the last week and everything here is flooded- If the water goes down i might head out next weekend.;)

I also scout pretty much year round. I will start picking it up and doing heavy duty scouting around the first of March though.

Hawgnman,
Still to ealy for me :(. A couple of years ago I drove the 4.5 hours to where I hunt on March 1st and had snow as deep as over my knees. The turkeys migrate up to this area from lower country. They pretty much follow the snow line up as it melts. I can't get to the lower area either because I have to go over the top to get there. I hunt between 4,000-5,000 feet in elevation. There is still snow in some areas well in to April.

I wish I was scoutin' but I don't think it would be too productive. In my experience, the birds I'll see now won't be where I'll see them now, come April. I plan to start my scouting around the third weekend in March, or so. First season opens mid-April, and 2-3 weekends should tell me where to go.

For the first time ever, this spring I'm going to Kansas, and that'll be "cold." I won't even know the lay of the land. The farmer who owns the ground we're hunting on might know where the birds hang out, hopefully, but if not, I'll guess have to scout 'em while hunting 'em.

not me, I'm scoutin for bow stands for next year, and doin most of my major trimmin shootin lanes.
I won't start scoutin for turkey till about 2 weeks before season. by
then the turkeys should be in their spring breedin grounds. I'll start
lookin for tracks, scratchins, and listening for gobbles.

It's a little too early for me to get out. As soon as the snow melts I am hitting the woods. I cant wait!!! I live about 4 hrs. From where I do the majority of my hunting so I cant scout there quite as much as I can up here. I do hunt up here some. But yeah...I just cant wait to get out, even to scout.
