RE: Aluminum Calls
I've always used one and like the volume I can get off the Aluminum. I like the Triple Threat By QB , and too use a wood striker on the call , can tone down the sound and add life like tone to the call. Over the years I've found the Cedar and the Aluminum seem to get along very well...BT

RE: Aluminum Calls
I agree with totoes, about the aluminium, but if you want an excellent sounding slate (frictionite) try the freak by primos i bought one this year and let me tell you it sounds great, and you can strap it to your leg or gunstock for less movement, just my 2 cents worth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Aluminum Calls
I also use the MAD super Aluminator.
I can tell you I have actually used it as a last resort in an are. I have used a box, a diaphram and even a shock call to get a response. Nothing.
Then I take out his Aluminum and within 5 minutes in the same area I was getting nothing I am suddenly getting Gobbles.
They do take a lot of Maintanence keep the sand paper with you. The one problem I have had is that there are times you need to rough the entire slate. When you do this take a minute to find the new sweet spot.
I have called more birds in with this call than anyother, most are lucky enough to only be shot with the camera as my season usually is only 1 week long. The camera extends the season.
