Do you know which natural predators kill more turkeys? Put these in order if you know the answer.

a.Coyote?
b.Racoon?
c.possum?
d.skunk?
e.fox?

I'm guessing here, but I would put coyotes as number one of those listed. I have seen more 'yotes during turkey season than any other time of the year. They seem to hone in on the gobbles of the birds, and I know several people who have had decoys grabbed by them. I would think racoons and skunks (possums also, though we don't have any up here) would be more of an egg eating situation. Foxes some young birds. Bobcats weren't mentioned. And I have heard great hornned owls often take birds off the roost. I would also think hawks would be a predator of poults, and have heard of a hunter having an eagle take a decoy here in Maine.

I would figure that skunks would be number 1 as they go after the eggs...

here hogs are the number one nest buster. Coons and possums for poult eaters.

Coons and black snakes are the worst enemy to a turkey egg there is in this part of the country, And as far as an adult turkey, bobcats catch about as many as anything, them stinking things climb the tree of a night and catch them on the roost.

Pat,the egg eaters are the #1 killers...obviously higher egg eaters create heavy predation problems,coons,skunks,opossum are terrible on the nests but as already mentioned some of us across the country deal with hog problems as we do here along with ground squirrels and domestic animals.Even crows and magpies can be pests![:@]

Like Bobgobble2 mentioned, MAGPIES, MAGPIES, MAGPIES, are egg eating%%#$%$#$&% around!! And they also go after chicks as well...But remember they are PROTECTED!!! [:o]

Everyone did a great job answering this. But the egg eaters are the number one killers of turkeys. I know they are EGGS but they still are turkeys. There was alot of though put into this by all that replied. But as you all can see even if you don't have coons, possums or skunks your egg eaters kille more turkeys than the fox or coyote. I know around here the coons, skunks and possums will wipe out a whole nest in one night they will gorge themselves. Good Job answering. Pat
