Favorite friction call

Was looking around at turkey calls today and couldnt decide on a friction call. Theres just to many to choose from and so little money. So to the question, whats your favorite friction call?

My favorite production call is the Knight & Hale Ol' Yeller with a Woods Wise Mystic Stick. Followed closely by a Primos Power Crystal with a Purpleheart striker or the Mystic Stick.

I've got a couple of MADD friction calls that I've had
a lot of luck with. One aluminum and the other slate.
That being said, "The Freak" (Primos) is always in my
vest when I'm heading to the woods[:-].

If I go to a friction call my first one is Ol Yeller. I have some other slate styles but that is my favorite.

About 6 years ago, my hunting partner's brother let me borrow his call. It was by M.A.D. Calls and it's called the Super Crystal. Went out that day and killed a gobbler. Then went back to MN and bought one of my own and a week later killed another one. Since then, I've been very successful with it and the call I use 90% of the time. I rough it up with sandpaper and rough the striker up as well. I've sat and traded calls with some hens and have gotten to where you couldn't tell the difference between us. It works for me...

I have two favorite friction calls. The Black Magic and the Black Widow by H.S. Strut. They are both awesome sounding calls. I just got the Black Magic, but I have had great success with the Black Widow. BB

No matter how many I own (which is way too many!) I always end up going back to the Primos Power Crystal with purpleheart striker.

If I had to choose from many and had little money to dish out, I would have to pick the H.S. Strut Black Magic aluminum call w/ a H.S. Strut rosewood striker. I've called in a bunch of turkeys using this call. Retails for about $16 or so at Wally World.

(shown w/ the included acrylic and "Magic Wand" strikers)

I agree with Mike Bell. These are the best sounding calls I've ever heard! Oh, and at less than $50! Check them out.

I like the Blodgett's alot. Cody makes some pretty good calls, but you gotta spend money to get a good one. Ron Clough in Maryland turns out awesome friction calls from all kinds of woods. And Steve Harrison and Woodhaven are high on my "to do" list.

As far as production calls, I like the M.A.D Aluminator. I just got an H.S. Strut Copper Pot the other day. It has some serious volume! And sound quality that would win some contests.

for a factory call, I like the Primos Power Crystal. However, for custom I'm particular to mine...

My favorite production friction call is Knight and Hale's Ol' Yeller. Very easy to use and good sound. As far as custom calls, I just picked up a Kaiser Kall after last season. I agree with Weasel and Mike Bell. Very nice sounding call. Mine is double sided, glass on one side and slate on the other. Excellent craftsmanship too. Andy Kaiser makes a great call. This one just may give my Ol' Yeller some competition for my go to call this season.

My favorite is either my freak by primos, or the power crystal.

This is a Kaiser Kall! I have a drawer full of turkey calls and none even come close to the sound I get from this one. At this point in my life, I need every advantage I can get.

Without a doubt the Cody "II" glass at about $35 , you won't find anything that sounds better for the price! You can find them in cabelas or log onto cody calls.

RE: Favorite friction call

A buddy of mine had a Cody II Glass and it did sound nice. Then he bought a Kaiser Kall for the same price as the Cody, plus the shipping was less and he ended-up giving the Cody away. When you can buy a walnut pot, double glass custom call and striker for the same price you pay for a production call, why would you buy the same call every other hunter might have? You'll just sound like everybody else that has a Cody, Knight & Hale, or Primos call. Plus, for very little more money you can have some of the more exotic woods.
