Model 11

Anyone turkey hunt with a Model 11 Remington? The reason I ask, my dad is a gun trader and he brought one home today (12 ga. 30inch full choke). We shot it with 4 shot 2.75 shells against the mossberg 835 with 4 shot 3inch mags. The Model 11 out shot the mosssberg pretty handily.
You guys think it is ok to hunt with a gun that only shoots 2.75 shells?

If it patterns better and you feel comfortable with it I dont see why you would have to have 3" shells. I'd hunt with it if you like it.

The first 2 turkeys I took were with an old Remington model 11 with a full fixed choke and 2 3/4 winchester shells. It knocked both of them over quite dead. I only went to my Browning Gold after I became stricken with this turkey hunting illness. Just wanted a new gun!

Go for it. I took 2 birds last year with 2 3/4" magnums, because that's all my shotgun would shoot. It also has a 30" barrel and holds a very good pattern. The main reason I changed guns was that my grandpa gave me that gun 25 years ago and I don't want it to get scratched up. On my 835 that I just bought, I like the shorter barrel (for manuverability) and it has a camo pattern. Other than that, it would hammer them!! I think a lot of the hype about all the new guns is just that HYPE. If all the older guns weren't good, our forefathers would have never killed any turkeys. But, don't get me wrong I need all the excuses I can get to buy more guns.
