BENELLI OR MOSSBERG?
 

Hey guys i need some advice, I am wanting to buy a new turkey gun, what would you choose and why? The benelli nova or the mossberg 500. pro's and con's please or even on the remington 870 never had a 870 but i would like to hear opinions don't like the safety cause i am left handed, i have always been partial to mossberg for the amidextrious safety that they have i am kinda leaning toward the nova but need to hear you guys opinions. thank you and god bless.

I am a big fam of the Mossberg. The price is right - holds a tight pattern - and has the features that I need.

My only suggestion is to spend a few more dollars for the 835. You can still shoot 3" if you choose but you have the option to move up if you ever want.

Hey guys thanks for the advice, but i went to the gun shop to look and fell in love with the new mossberg 935 semi-auto, so i bought it, It is a awesome gun it has the 24 inch barrel tru glo sights , and mobu camo, the film dipped camo is beautiful compared to the older mossbergs that i own, i have a 500 and a 835 ulti-mag so i have always been a mossberg fan. thank you and god bless.

How much did the new semi-auto cost you? I am a big Mossberg fan also.

I have a 20 ga. mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel that I use deer hunting. I did take it turkey hunting 5 years ago. I love it. I would go with the benelli nova though. It's chambered 3.5 in. I like the nova alot. The 870 is also really good. It might be the most reliable gun in the world. If it was me I would get the Nova, but get the one that fits you best.

I agree, find one that fits you and your price range. The price is right for the Mossberg 835, can't complain about that. Only drawback is the kick you get with the 3.5" shells. It's a great deal and will definitely bring down those long beards.

The benelli is alot fancier, but who needs fancy to kill turkeys? The mossburg its priced around $300 and it can reach out and touch turkeys with the best of them!

I purchased an 870 3.5 super mag 4 years ago. It has performed well. However, the first time I shot it, it jammed up big time. It could not be repaired by the local gunsmith and had to be shipped to the factory for repair. Needless to say, this happened 2 weeks before turkey season and it was not returned until turkey season was a distant memory. It has performed flawlessly since, but I suspect it was not adequately tested before leaving the factory when new. Any firearm from any manufacturer can be DOA and I just happened to get a bad one. It is relatively lightweight,shoots very well and is easy to handle.
