RE: rain suit
I've only turkey hunted twice, both times it was raining[&o] The first time, it was a warm day, I got wet but didn't mind. The second time, I think the temp was in the 40's and the rain was going sideways almost because of the wind. Because of that I now own gore-tex. Gore-Tex is a good investment, I hunted in the rain with it in archery season and I stayed dry.

RE: rain suit
Over the years I've come to own 3 rain suits and each one
comes in handy during certain weather. If I had to pick just one....it would definitely be Cabela's MTO50. It's a "mid-weight", Gore-Tex rain suit that will keep you dry. Heavy enough to wear when it's cool out and light enough to throw in my backpack when there's a chance of rain[:-]. |
RE: rain suit
I use Mossy Oak break-up MT050 Gortex Cabelas rain suit and have for four years now. I thurkey in it, judge dogs in it, hunt all upland birds in it and duck hunt in it. It has taken a beating and is holding up very well!
Well worth the price I paid for it and am purchasing a back-up suit too boot! JW |

10X gortex in the Grey Realtree Pattern...BT

RE: rain suit
Has anyone tried Frog Toggs? I'm thinking of trying them for a light weight suit. I use army gortex for the heavy weight ones.

RE: rain suit
GS,just my own personal opinion but I stay cheap when it comes to rain gear for turk season.Sure I have my gortex but I use them for the duck/goose blind a whole lot during season in 'shadowgrass'!I carry a cheap pair of PVC/nylon pants and jacket made by Red Head/BassPro!Weather obviously vary's across the country but I bet over the last 20 years I've had to wear my raingear maybe twice through a given season around these parts. Its a lightweight suit that really isn't very tough but when it rains my pace slows down a whole lot with little moving around so its not like it's going to experience a whole lot of tough circumstances.Kept me dry more than a few times and easily fits in my turk vest.$25.00 in Mossy Oak break-up!!Good luck!!:)

RE: rain suit
I second the Cabela's Mossy Oak MT050 Gortex gang. I've had mine three years and use it on turkeys, upland game, waterfowl if not wearing waders, dog training and any other time I'm outdoors in fowl weather. Mine has stood up to the frequent use very well. I pack it along on every hunting trip, and carry it in my turkey vest if there's a chance of rain. I bought suspenders to hold up the pants, and I especially like that I can comfortably slip them over my other clothes as needed. Well worth the price IMHO.

Browning
Jacket and pants roll up into bag the size of a small football. Great for the pack |
