Cluck not putt
Ok i have read that a cluck can sound alot like a alarm putt. What is the difference and any tips on not doing a out will help. Or if you have a sound file of a putt point me in that direction. I have never heard a putt and i am practicing my mouth calling and i want to make sure i dont do it.

RE: Cluck not putt
The two calls are very similar with the Putt being quick and sharp...but as always not all turkeys are alike....For good examples of these two calls plus others go to www.treetopturkeys.com and check under "Basic Turkey Calls"

Hentalker beat me to showing you the link to treetopturkeys.
Anyhow, the cluck and putt definetly sound very similar. I think a turkey's body language and cadence have as much to do with a putt as apposed to a cluck as anything else. I think a turkey that is walking along feeding slowly with their head down, could make the exact same noise as a spooked turkey running away, and the other turkeys may look up quick but if the turkey that clucked/putted isn't at attention, they'll go right back to feeding. Also, everyone knows that no hens yelp exactly alike, this is true for all calls. Ones cluck may be another's putt. Like I said body language and speed and exitement of the call have as much to do with it as the actual note. That's just my humble opinion. |
RE: Cluck not putt
In my experience (and Yeah, I've heard my share of putts[:'(]) the putt is louder, more frequent, and has a LOT more urgency to it.
Also, it gets harder to hear as the distance increases;) |
RE: Cluck not putt
cluck only once and you won't have to worry
Putts usually are more than 1 |
