What's your favorite sub................?
What's your favorite sub-species of turkey to hunt and why? Or if you haven't been privileged enough to hunt more than one sub-species, which one would you like to hunt and why?

Right now, I'm pretty hung up on the Easterns. I'm still new at this game, but have heard that they (as a general rule) are the most challenging to take. I have a hunt lined up in Fl for next year to hunt the Osceola, but would really like to take a Meriam with the white tip fan.[:-]

They seem to all have a quality of there own, like the Oce. because of the Lack of land hunting rights. Ya Ever notice how all them Flortains stick togeather, they never offer an invite to any of us ...BT

The only sub-species available in my neck of the woods is the Eastern. I don't know how it could get any better than hunting the Eastern strain because of the habitat they live in. It's hard to beat a hardwood timber or creek bottom while out pursuing the wily Eastern. But if I had to choose another sub-species for a side trip, it would probably be a Merriams hunt in S.D. or Wyoming.

Although I have yet to hunt outside my home state of WI, I would have to say I think Marriams are the prittiest of the sub species. I Hope to get out west one of thease coming years and chase them around a little bit.
