Illinois turkeys

I'm gonna start turkey hunting this year and I'm going to apply for the last season because I will be out of school and get to hunt every day. Is there still good hunting that last week of the season, or would I be better off the first couple weeks?

Tuff call!! While I haven't hunted Ill. before, if it's anything like here in NY, the begining, middle and the end of the season can be good!! Depends on how many hens are in your area and the timing of the mating season.

First of the season is great in the Northern Zone. They have been called at little if you keep out roadside callers. Last week is also good for lonely toms trying to find the last few hens that are mating. I have had luck in both weeks.
