I've used my MADD 'Premier' slate call for 4 or 5 years now...great for soft calling...taken several nice gobblers with it<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. I actually prefer it over the two Cody friction calls I have, but they sound good also. I paid about $20 for my Premier, not sure if it's still in their line though.

I don't use production calls, I like customs better. I don't think the M.A.D. Premier is in the line anymore. Try the Premium Slate from Penn's Woods. It's a all wood friction call thats half the price of a custom. They sound excellent. Good luck.

I have a Lohman Thunder Dome and a Knight and Hale ol' yeller. The thunder dome is slate and I called the first two birds I ever killed in with it.I had to work for the first one for about 45 min. The second come right in.I have had the ol'yeller for one season and killed one with it also.I like them both.Hope this helps.

The Quaker Boy Walnut Master Series&quot; slate over slate is the finest production slate call I have ever used. (And I own most all of them from H.S. to the Cody II.)

It will run you a few dollars more than the usual slate at around $35 a pop, but it's well worth every penny.
No bull.

I love my Quaker Boy double face. It has slate on one side and glass on the other, but I mostly use the slate side. I've had it for a while and dont know if they still make it.

it seems like all slate is getting harder to find with all the high pitched calls coming out.
