Deer Season Turkeys
I know a lot of us were in the woods for deer season. I had some great Turkey time sitting in the timber. Flydowns that were almost on my head to watching a coyote flush the birds, about 17 total I counted...into the very trees I was sitting under.
When they flushed, I had 3 gobblers I could watch. Pretty amazing stuff. One bird was most vocal and seemed to be the leader of the pack. He would talk and chatter and the others would answer. You get a real sense of how many sounds they make and how often what we do and think is "wrong" actually could be a sound a turkey could and probably does make! I was watching him pretty closely when another of the gobblers turned so he was silloetted against the sky. He had a HUGE beard...not unusually long but was big, thick...so I really zeroed in on that bad boy. It was fun, the birds added to the hunt, and I have to admit, I would rather watch Turkeys anyway! Ill be hunting that coyote soon . |
RE: Deer Season Turkeys
This past archery season I seen two differnt gobblers on two different days walk within 60 yards from my treestand. I tried my best to call them closer with my natural voice, but they didn't want any part of it and kept walking in the direction that they were going in. They had nice long beards on them, and I would of loved to of arrowed one if he got within range!!!;)
