My Opinion is that i do believe it does make birds wiser. (I'm not saying this is what you new buddy does) First they hear a truck or car pull up, the door open and a door buzzer ringing. The next thing they normally hear is the door slam shut cause the guy wants to shut up that dang ANNOYING door buzzer. The guy then COUGHS and gags cause he's just used to driving around and now is outta breath from getting outta his truck. He then grabs his BOX call and strikes notes so loud on it that the GOBBLER's feathers are ruffled from the sound waves.

Ok so after all that I really don't mind it, You ask why? I'll tell ya. Most of the hunters that try thier hand at turkey hunting don't take the time to learn all the calls needed to successfully hunt turks. Most of them grab a box call and learn the YELP. After awhile the turks become accustomed to the yelp from a box call and associate it with the sound of the truck and hunter. I use a mouth call and practice year round to not make any sounds that mimic the yelp of a box call. I have had two gobblers going and had a vehicle stop on the road and the guy get out (during the season, First day to be exact) with his box call and start yacking. The Gobblers did answer him at the same time cut the distance between myself and them. The birds did gobble just about everytime to him. I started purring and they came right to me (the whole while the guy YELPING on his box call). Nothing more depressing for HIM than the bark of my shotgun taking one of those birds (sorry if you were the guy and reading this). So what I would say to you is practice making all the calls and use the calls that he doesn't use while driving around. I WOULD also take him along, You just may make his day! He may not hunt turks anymore for fear of going into the woods alone. And ya never know he may have some GREAT tips to make it a memorable hunt for You and him. Good Hunting and Return home safe.
